The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island reclaims its role as host venue ahead of this week’s PGA Championship. It last played that role during the 2012 PGA where Rory McIlroy lapped the field. The course is known for being extremely exposed to the wind but the wind forecast is currently on the mild side. That could change at the drop of a hat so keep an eye on that. TPC Craig Ranch hops in this week to fill the void of hosting the AT&T Byron Nelson. They have a five-year contract for this event but as we saw with Trinity Forest, that could end sooner if it doesn’t go well. What do we know about Craig Ranch? It’s a par 72 that will play over 7,400 yards. The course has been soaked with rain in the lead-up to the event. Quail Hollow Club returns this week to host another Wells Fargo Championship. The course is one of the longest on TOUR. It’s loaded up to 7,521 yards as a par-71 layout. Distance is a clear advantage when you get a course that long. There are two stats I will focus on this week and both of them bake in power as part of the equation.
