Russell Westbrook finally paying price for defiance

Defiance has been the fuel to everything Russell Westbrook has been and accomplished in his NBA career. It didn’t matter what his critics or opponents said, because very often his play — or rather the result of his performances — had the last word. Now, as he’s underperformed in a Los Angeles Lakers uniform, the greatest initiator of pressure in the NBA, he’s seeing and hearing everything and no longer has the game to mute all the noise. An athlete in decline is the main course here,… Source link

Biden bans Russian oil, warns of ‘Putin price hike’ at pump

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden announced Tuesday the U.S. will ban all Russian oil imports, toughening the toll on Russia’s economy in retaliation for its invasion of Ukraine, but he acknowledged it will bring costs to Americans, particularly at the gas pump. The action follows pleas by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to U.S. and Western officials to cut off the imports, which had been a glaring omission in the massive sanctions put in place on Russia over the invasion…. Ticket from Michael Jordan’s NBA debut sells for record price

Mike Cole insists that, until a few months ago, he gladly would have accepted $500 in exchange for his unused ticket to Michael Jordan’s 1984 NBA debut. Thankfully for him, nobody ever made him that low-ball offer. A ticket that Cole stashed for years in his basement alongside some other old keepsakes turned out to have more than just sentimental value. It was one of two tickets that nearly doubled the previous record for the most expensive vintage sports ticket when their auctions closed… Source link

Democrats have an inflation problem with voters. And they’ve been pointing in a range of directions to deflect the blame for consumer prices that have increased at the highest rate in 40 years. Targets include supply chain woes, the stalled Build Back Better plan, the gas tax, and lower immigration rates. Some Democrats also contend that across the economy, big corporations have spurred skyrocketing inflation — and that means you could hear the phrase “price gouging” a lot between now and… Source link

Corporate ‘price gouging’ is fueling inflation

Progressive Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) told Yahoo Finance in an exclusive interview that corporate “price gouging” has fueled inflation, placing the blame largely on dominant companies that hike prices and rake in profits without fear of competition.  She strongly rejected claims that government stimulus in response to COVID-19 has caused the price spike, warning that such a diagnosis of the problem could lead to spending cuts with dire consequences for millions of people… Source link
