Monroe County Opportunity Program receives $150K from Google

At MCOP's free summer program, The Clubhouse, local youth learn the fundamentals of cooking like making BLT sandwiches using marble bread and adding healthy options like mango and/or pineapple.

The Monroe County Opportunity Program was one of two Michigan organizations to receive a grant from Google.

MCOP and the West Michigan Center for Arts and Technology each received $150,000 for workforce development programs.

“(These organizations) will use funds to educate at-risk youth and adults and provide technology programs to diversity the talent pipeline,” said a press release.

MCOP will use the money to support programs that provide life skills to at-risk youth. The youths assist…
