Packers remain Super Bowl favorites after bye

The Green Bay Packers’ Super Bowl odds improved over Wild Card Weekend even though they didn’t play at all. The Packers remain the Super Bowl favorite at BetMGM entering the Divisional round. The NFC’s No. 1 seed entered the playoffs at +400 to win the Super Bowl and is now at +375 ahead of a matchup against the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday. If Green Bay beats San Francisco (+1000) it will host the winner of the Los Angeles Rams and Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC Championship… Source link

What happens to the stock market when interest rates rise?

With the Federal Reserve now widely expected to jack up interest rates in March to beat back rampant inflation, investors in the stock market should buckle up for a more muted few months of returns, says Goldman Sachs chief U.S. equity strategist David Kostin.  The S&P 500 has been “resilient” around the start of Fed hiking cycles in the past, Kostin notes. But one could interpret that resiliency Kostin speaks of in different ways.  The first is that the stock market didn’t fall off a cliff… Source link

Matthew Stafford finally has his first playoff victory. Now comes the tough part – Yahoo Sports

For a dozen years, Matthew Stafford watched the NFL’s playoff carnival go off either without him, or with his role limited to bit player. He threw for 49,995 regular-season yards and 282 touchdowns for the Detroit Lions but had virtually nothing tangible (other than a lot of money, of course) to show for it. Three meager wild-card appearances. Three losses by an average of 13.7 points. There was lots of couch time watching not just great quarterbacks play in, and win, big games, but even… Source link

Cardinals’ collapse complete as they get blown out by Rams

When the Arizona Cardinals were 10-2, not everyone was convinced they were legit. It wasn’t necessarily fair at the time. The skepticism ended up being prescient.  The Cardinals had the type of collapse you won’t see too often in the NFL. They followed a 10-2 start with a 1-5 finish, including an embarrassing 34-11 wild-card playoff loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night. This comes a season after the Cardinals turned a 6-3 start into an 8-8 season with no playoff berth.  Quarterback Source link

Kyler Murray’s hideous INT put Cardinals in big hole

The Arizona Cardinals‘ night was already going really bad, and then it reached ridiculous levels on one of the worst plays you’ll see a quarterback make in the playoffs.  The Los Angeles Rams led 14-0 and had the Cardinals backed up, facing a third-and-7. Kyler Murray went back to pass and held the ball an impossibly long time looking for a receiver. Eventually linebacker Troy Reeder got to Murray and started to wrap him up for what would have been a sack and safety. It got worse.  Murray… Source link

Nets’ Kyrie Irving sticking with COVID vaccine decision

Though the Nets could definitely use him, especially now with Kevin Durant sidelined with his MCL injury, Kyrie Irving isn’t going to change his mind on receiving a COVID-19 vaccine. Irving insisted on Monday, after their 114-107 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, that he wasn’t going to budge. “I’ve made my decision already and I’m standing on it,” Irving said, via Nets Daily’s Matt Brooks. Irving, of course, is one of the last coronavirus vaccine holdouts in the NBA and is still… Source link

Odell Beckham Jr. continues his hot streak with TD

Odell Beckham Jr.‘s dad was right, after all.  Beckham’s time with the Cleveland Browns lacked many big plays and ended in a messy way, after a rift with quarterback Baker Mayfield that included Beckham’s dad posting a video of how often his son was open but didn’t get the ball. The Browns cut Beckham, and the Los Angeles Rams were aggressive to get him.  It has worked out better for the Rams than they could have reasonably expected.  Beckham is back to looking like one of the game’s better… Source link

49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo has sprained shoulder

Jimmy Garoppolo started Sunday’s win over the Dallas Cowboys with a torn ligament in his right thumb. Before it was over, he suffered a sprain to his right shoulder. Now, he’s dealing with both as the San Francisco 49ers prepare to face Aaron Rodgers and the top-seeded Green Bay Packers in Saturday’s NFC divisional-round playoff game.  Head coach Kyle Shanahan updated reporters on Garoppolo’s status on Monday. He described the shoulder sprain as “slight” and expects Garoppolo to practice and… Source link
