Russia’s most popular search engine has installed software that blocks images of President Putin when users enter insulting or obscene words and phrases as the Kremlin seeks to stamp out dissent over the war in Ukraine.
Yandex, which is often called Russia’s Google, has ensured that pictures of the president are no longer returned by searches for “khulyo,” which translates as “f***ing d***head”. Since 2014 the word has been commonly used in Ukraine to describe Putin.
