Google this week introduced new features for its Chrome and Android operating systems that will change or improve many of the tech gadgets you use every day. At its annual I/O developer’s conference, Google CEO Sundar Pichai introduced several Google employees and developers who discussed changes with Google Photos, Pixel phones, Google Maps, Google Lens, and privacy. Seeing what Google has learned about you is a bit shocking though. To see what data Google knows about you, go to www.myactivity.google.com. Among the many items collected are web searches, YouTube videos you’ve watched, places you’ve visited, and things you’re interested in such as hobbies and what you eat. Source link

If you’re using “incognito” mode on the Google browser, you might think, or even be led to believe, you’re browsing history and internet visits are private and not being tracked. That is not true. No matter where you go online, if you’re using the Chrome browser, you are being followed. Source link

“Google, please don’t do this,” wrote the Electronic Frontier Foundation, a digital rights group, in a blog post. In the post, EFF technologist Bennett Cyphers argued that, depending on how small each cohort is and the ability for clever companies to cross-reference that data with other available information — such as your email address — it may well be possible for third parties to figure out who you are, anyway. How do you do that? Go to Google Maps on a computer or your phone, and you can virtually walk down almost any street, looking at houses, maybe seeing someone in front of their house.
