How Warriors walked ambitious line to revamp dynasty without full rebuild

How Warriors walked ambitious line to revamp dynasty without full rebuild

SAN FRANCISCO — It’s easy to paint Steve Kerr as a sentimentalist, the championship coach with the magic touch and a moral compass to boot. But he’s been on the business side of at least one abrupt ending to an incredible run, then found himself decades later trying to complete a mission the Boston Celtics could never reach the finish line on. In 1992, the Cleveland Cavaliers and Celtics engaged in a seven-game slugfest for the right to play the defending champion Chicago Bulls in the… Source link

Warriors celebrate latest title with wild parade

Warriors celebrate latest title with wild parade

The Golden State Warriors celebrated their latest NBA title Monday in San Francisco, and the Bay Area showed out. Last week the Warriors won their fourth title since 2015 with their win over the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals. That prompted another championship parade, something Warriors fans have become very good at. So much so, in fact, that one fan showed up with a live goat wearing a Stephen Curry jersey. Looks like the GOAT debate is over. Things got off to a rocky start Monday after Klay… Source link

Kenny Atkinson reportedly turns down Hornets to stay with Warriors

The Charlotte Hornets‘ coaching search isn’t over after all. Golden State Warriors assistant Kenny Atkinson reportedly changed his mind and will not become the next head coach of the Hornets, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Atkinson will instead continue to serve as an assistant coach with the Warriors. It’s unclear what changed between Atkinson and the Hornets. In mid-June, it was reported the Hornets agreed in principle to hire Atkinson. He would reportedly receive a four-year deal… Source link

Steve Kerr celebrated hard after Warriors win: ‘I’m hungover’

Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr knows what it’s like to win a championship in the NBA. After winning five as a player, Kerr picked up his fourth championship as a coach Thursday, giving him nine championship rings. If his comments Friday were any indication, celebrating championships doesn’t get old. [Warriors championship gear: Buy the newest shirts, hats and other memorabilia] Kerr admitted he partied pretty hard following his fourth championship with the Warriors. How Warriors rallied around Draymond Green amid vulgar chants to claim 4th NBA title

How Warriors rallied around Draymond Green amid vulgar chants to claim 4th NBA title

BOSTON — A code of conduct message was briefly displayed on the Jumbotron a few times per game at TD Garden during the NBA Finals. And at least on one occasion a night, the PA announcer read the message to fans. Plastered on the entire screen in green with a white font, it read: “Fans engaging in any disruptive behavior such as: fighting, throwing objects, attempting to enter the court or interrupt play, USING IMPROPER OR OFFENSIVE LANGUAGE or gestures are subject to ejection, ban, and… Source link

Celtics’ giveaway spree puts them on verge of giving away series to Warriors

Celtics’ giveaway spree puts them on verge of giving away series to Warriors

SAN FRANCISCO — A backdoor pass is intercepted. A crosscourt pass is picked off. A simple dribble handoff is fumbled, and a lob is robbed. These are the giveaways that have become routine for the Boston Celtics, and one of the central stumbling blocks causing them to be on the brink of giving away this NBA Finals after being up 2-1. Game 5 on Monday was no different — as they lost to the Golden State Warriors 104-94 to fall down 3-2 — and it involved the usual suspects. Boston coughed up… Source link

Yahoo NBA DFS Primer Celtics v. Warriors: Friday (6/10)

That Wednesday game was weird. Golden State made a third-quarter run to make it competitive, but it felt like Boston would never lose that game after a dominating opening frame. The crowd and energy in the building were electric, and it’s going to be tough for the Warriors to win in TD Garden. We have Game 4 in that building once again, so let’s get started with the injury report! Create the optimal lineup using our NBA DFS lineup optimizer >> Injury Report Find the best… Source link

Can Warriors afford Jordan Poole’s max extension?

Can Warriors afford Jordan Poole’s max extension?

SAN FRANCISCO — It took a moment for Jordan Poole to soak it all in, wearing the hat and T-shirt with confetti dropping from above at Chase Center as the Golden State Warriors clinched a trip to the NBA Finals. If it’s a feeling he wants to help duplicate, the punitive luxury tax penalties won’t be a deterrent for the Warriors to keep him. Warriors president of basketball operations and general manager Bob Myers cut off the question before it could be finished, flatly saying “no”… Source link

Yahoo NBA DFS Primer Warriors vs. Mavericks: Tuesday (5/24)

Yahoo NBA DFS Primer Warriors vs. Mavericks: Tuesday (5/24)

Many people expected Golden State to take care of business in this series, but I don’t think anyone expected it to be this lopsided. The Warriors are looking for the sweep in this Game 4, and it’s becoming clear that the Mavs are outmatched right now. Luka Doncic is doing everything possible to carry this team, but it’s unfair when the other team has the next four-best players in the series. This is a spot for Dallas to bounce back, though, and they need to save some face… Source link
