Anthony Richardson leads Florida to thrilling 29-26 upset victory over No. 7 Utah

Anthony Richardson made sure Billy Napier’s head-coaching debut at Florida was a memorable one. Richardson, the Gators’ electric sophomore quarterback, made play after play to help Florida upset No. 7 Utah, 29-26, in front of a raucous home crowd in the Swamp. While Utah was able to limit Richardson to mainly underneath throws in the passing game, he could not be stopped on the ground. Richardson rushed for 104 yards and three touchdowns on just 11 carries, including the game-winning… Source link

Tiger Woods keeps fighting, and that’s a victory all its own

Tiger Woods keeps fighting, and that’s a victory all its own

Tiger Woods withdrew from the 2022 PGA Championship on Saturday night. This is not a surprise. The surprise is that he was in the field. The surprise is that he has fought his way back from another would-be career-ending catastrophe. The surprise is that anyone, at this point, is still surprised by Tiger Woods. The 2022 PGA Championship will forever have a “WD” next to Woods’ name. That doesn’t begin to cover the significance of the week. Yes, he stumbled to a +12 finish Saturday after a… Source link

Matthew Stafford finally has his first playoff victory. Now comes the tough part – Yahoo Sports

For a dozen years, Matthew Stafford watched the NFL’s playoff carnival go off either without him, or with his role limited to bit player. He threw for 49,995 regular-season yards and 282 touchdowns for the Detroit Lions but had virtually nothing tangible (other than a lot of money, of course) to show for it. Three meager wild-card appearances. Three losses by an average of 13.7 points. There was lots of couch time watching not just great quarterbacks play in, and win, big games, but even… Source link

VICTORY: Google Releases “disable 2g” Feature for New Android Smartphones

Last year Google quietly pushed a new feature to its Android operating system allowing users to optionally disable 2G at the modem level in their phones. This is a fantastic feature that will provide some protection from cell site simulators, an invasive police surveillance technology employed throughout the country. We applaud Google for implementing this much needed feature. Now Apple needs to implement this feature as well, for the safety of their customers.  What is 2G and why is it… Source link

Beer cans rain down on Islanders after Game 6 victory

New York Islanders fans certainly have a weird way of showing their appreciation for their team. Jon Rahm storms to victory, captures first major

LA JOLLA, Calif. — For about an hour, the U.S. Open had one of the greatest leaderboards in recent golf history, with almost all of the game’s biggest names within two shots of the lead. But then Torrey Pines whittled away the competitors, and down the stretch, only Jon Rahm and Louis Oosthuizen remained standing.  One was the pre-tournament favorite. The other was a perpetual bridesmaid, winner of one major but a second-place finisher in five more. In the end, Oosthuizen was a runner-up… Source link

Google v. Oracle: Supreme Court hands Google a victory in a multibillion-dollar case

Google’s copying of so-called application programming interfaces from Oracle’s Java SE was an example of fair use, the court held in a 6-2 decision authored by Justice Stephen Breyer. In addition to resolving a multibillion-dollar dispute between the tech titans, the ruling helps affirm a longstanding practice in software development. But the Court declined to weigh in on the broader question of whether APIs are copyrightable. Google said the Court’s opinion “is a victory for consumers,… Source link

Google wins major copyright victory

The court said Google’s use of the Java API “included only those lines of code that were needed to allow programmers to put their accrued talents to work in a new and transformative program.” The court emphasized the public benefits that the copying produced — like greater creativity and competition. “We assume, for argument’s sake, that the material was copyrightable,” the decision said. “But we hold that the copying here at issue nonetheless constituted a fair use.” Justice… Source link

Naomi Osaka’s awkward name mistake during victory speech

Naomi Osaka looked perfect during her 2021 Australian Open finals win, but she made one unforced error after the match had concluded. During her victory speech, Osaka made things awkward while trying to thank her opponent. Osaka — who defeated Jennifer Brady in straight sets Saturday — had good intentions. Before giving credit to Brady for her play, Osaka turned to Brady and asked whether she preferred to go by Jennifer or Jenny. Brady responded by saying “Jenny.” Osaka then turned back… Source link
