U.S. stock futures were sideways Monday evening after a momentous first trading day of 2022. Contracts on the Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500, and Nasdaq were mostly flat after all three indexes rallied in Monday’s session. Cam Newton‘s streak of five straight starts for the Carolina Panthers is coming to an end. Head coach Matt Rhule announced on Wednesday that Sam Darnold, not Newton, would start Week 17’s game against the New Orleans Saints. Newton was signed by the Panthers after Week 9 when Darnold, who had began the season as QB1, went down with a partially fractured scapula. The Washington Football Team couldn’t stop the Dallas Cowboys in the first half. They couldn’t move the ball either.  WFT was being blown out, and that was embarrassing enough. Then two teammates started fighting on the sideline.  Defensive linemen Daron Payne and Jonathan Allen were sitting on the bench after another Cowboys touchdown. Shares of Salesforce (CRM) rallied more than 7% Thursday after the cloud-based software company boosted its full-year sales forecast as the pandemic-led shift to remote work continues to fuel demand for its products.
