Average new car price hits record $41,000

Supply constraints and increased demand drove the average price of a new car to $41,044 in July, an all-time high, according to J.D. Power’s latest U.S. Automotive Forecast. “We can’t get to $41,000 without both a supply chain issue that we’re seeing from microchips, as well as increased consumer demand that is not being met with the supply available,” J.D. Google parent Alphabet reaches record quarterly revenue, profit in ad boom

July 27 (Reuters) – Google parent Alphabet Inc’s (GOOGL.O) quarterly revenue and profit surged to record highs, the company reported on Tuesday, powered by a rise in advertising spending as more consumers shopped online. Shares of Alphabet, the world’s largest provider of search and video ads, rose 3.3% in extended trading after the results, which handily beat analyst estimates. Shares of Facebook, which competes with Google in web ad sales and reports its own results on Wednesday, rose 1.3%.

US home price growth soars to a new record

Home price growth in the U.S. soared to a new record in May as the housing market continues to heat up. Standard & Poor’s said Tuesday that its S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller national home price index posted a 16.6% annual gain in May, up from 14.8% in April — marking the highest reading in more than 30 years of data. Foreign investment in US housing market falls to a record low
