49ers make playoffs with late rally, overtime win

At about 2:30 p.m. PT, it looked like the San Francisco 49ers‘ season was dying. It was back on life support at a little bit before 4 p.m. too.  Somehow, the 49ers made it to the postseason. They came back from a 17-0 deficit against the Los Angeles Rams to tie it. Jimmy Garoppolo overcame a bad fourth-quarter interception to lead an enormous 88-yard touchdown drive to tie it with 26 seconds left. Then in overtime, Garoppolo led a field-goal drive to take the lead and rookie cornerback Ambry… Source link

The rally in Coca-Cola’s stock is just beginning: analyst

The rally in Coca-Cola’s stock (KO) is just beginning, said one closely watched beverage analyst on Wall Street.  “We see the company exiting FY21 transition year stronger for four reasons: 1) strong emerging markets despite still low vaccination rate, 2) on-premise recovering faster than originally forecasted, 3) restructuring and portfolio rationalization led to a more focused and agile organization, and 4) gross margin benefiting from incidence model. In addition, the valuation is… Source link

Santa Claus Rally watch: What to know this week – Yahoo Finance

As traders return from the holiday-shortened week, the price action heading into the new year will be closely monitored — especially given the relatively light economic data and earnings calendar for the coming days.  The S&P 500 (^GSPC) is entering the period known for ushering in the so-called Santa Claus Rally, or seasonally strong timeframe for stocks at the end of each year. The term, coined by Stock Trader’s Almanac in the 1970s, encompasses the final five trading days of the year and… Source link

Santa Claus rally time for stock market? 92 years of data says…maybe

The clock has officially begun on a potential year-end Santa Claus Rally for the stock market.  A Santa Claus Rally is one where stocks climb higher in the final seven trading sessions of a year plus the first two trading days of the New Year. Its precise cause has never been greatly explained — theories range from year-end tax considerations to people spending their fat bonuses to buy stocks to general seasonal effects. Wednesday is the first day in this nine session trek for the markets…. Source link

Bitcoin, crypto boosted by Fed relief rally, investors ‘bracing for the worst’ get surprised

Bitcoin, crypto boosted by Fed relief rally, investors ‘bracing for the worst’ get surprised

The Federal Reserve’s surprisingly hawkish policy turn has had a surprise beneficiary: Cryptocurrencies. Digital coins extended gains on Thursday after the Fed stepped up its taper, and laid the foundation for a tightening cycle that could bring as many as three rate hikes in 2022. Normally, cryptocurrency benefits from loose monetary policy and its inflationary side-effects; but at least for now, investors are taking the longer view. Bitcoin (BTC-USD), barely a week removed from an ugly… Source link

Why we have exactly the fuel we need for a year-end rally

Why we have exactly the fuel we need for a year-end rally

Market participants are trying to make sense of the recent stock market volatility. They want to know why it happened, why was there a significant drop in so many growth stocks, and was this recent sharp pullback just a shakeout before a year-end rally or the start of a bigger correction? Of course, no one knows the answer to the last question, but I’m leaning towards a year-end rally for the following reasons. Technicals – During the recent drop, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite found… Source link

Stock futures build on gains after rally

Stock futures opened higher on Monday after a rally earlier in the session, with volatility stemming from concerns about the Omicron variant at least momentarily abating.  Contracts on the Dow extended gains. Omicron variant may mean stock market rally is on hold: Goldman Sachs

Omicron variant may mean stock market rally is on hold: Goldman Sachs

The bull market of 2021 may be on temporary hold as investors assess the economic risk from the new Omicron variant of COVID-19, warns Goldman Sachs. “We think a broad risk recovery may be impeded in the near term by the need to digest the prospect of a more hawkish Fed and a less consistent cyclical tailwind. Ironically, the Omicron scare itself may now create the best possibilities for relief in the coming weeks, either because incoming news is better than feared or because it prompts… Source link
