South Texas College recently started offering a new program that combines a bachelor’s degree in information technology with a Google IT certificate. “Not only are they working on their bachelor’s degree and their courses, but they’re also getting a professional certificate as well,” said Nicholas Hinojosa, a computer science instructor at STC. Google announced $875,000 in grants to Nebraska organizations on Thursday, including one in Lincoln. The technology giant gave $175,000 to the New Americans Task Force, a network of public and private organizations and community members that help immigrants who relocate to Lincoln. Google is reported to be signing up businesses to an unannounced upgraded version of a Google My Business profile. The new service, apparently in testing phase, costs $50/month.
