Brian Flores lawsuit sure doesn’t seem ‘without merit’

I am not now, nor have I ever been, a lawyer. No interest. But I do have a love for words and language, so I’m sure I know what the phrase “without merit” means. Does the NFL? Within moments of Brian Flores filing his civil lawsuit against the league and its teams alleging years of racial discrimination in hiring practices, the NFL sent an email blast to every media member in its address book, a three-sentence statement that ended by claiming Flores’ suit is “without merit.” I’m a firm believer… Source link

WASHINGTON, May 19 (Reuters) – The Google search engine collects data on users who think they can be anonymous if they use a “private browsing” mode, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton claimed on Thursday, filing an amended privacy lawsuit against the Alphabet Inc (GOOGL.O) unit. Texas, Indiana, Washington State and the District of Columbia filed separate suits against Google in January in state courts over what they called deceptive location-tracking practices that invade users’ privacy.

Brian Flores should stay strong in lawsuit

To Brian Flores, Steve Wilks and Ray Horton: Stay strong. Please stay strong. On Thursday, as part of documents submitted in the Flores class-action lawsuit against the league alleging racial discrimination, the NFL and the individual teams named in the lawsuit expressed their intention to file a motion to compel arbitration or alternatively, a motion to have the case dismissed entirely on the grounds that it is “without merit.” It’s to be expected that the league and teams would go this route… Source link

Hitting the Books: Raytheon, Yahoo Finance and the world’s first ‘cybersmear’ lawsuit

A company’s public image is arguably even more important to its bottom line than the product they produce and very much not something to be trifled with. Would Disney be the entertainment behemoth it is today if not for its family-friendly facade, would Google have garnered so much goodwill if not for its “don’t be evil” motto? Nobody’s going to buy your cars if they think the company is run by some “pedo guy.” With the scale of business that modern tech giants operate at and the amounts of… Source link
