Heat members help out at scene of Florida condo collapse

Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro and assistant coaches Chris Quinn and Eric Glass showed up to the scene of a deadly South Florida building collapse on Thursday to lend a hand.  A high-rise condominium in Surfside, Florida, partially collapsed around 1:30 a.m. Thursday as many residents slept. The collapse left a pile of rubble and debris on the property after the front end of a 12-story wing came crashing down.  As of Thursday afternoon, one person was declared dead while 99 remained missing,… Source link

Russia Raises Heat on Twitter, Google and Facebook in Online Crackdown

LONDON — Russia is increasingly pressuring Google, Twitter and Facebook to fall in line with Kremlin internet crackdown orders or risk restrictions inside the country, as more governments around the world challenge the companies’ principles on online freedom. Why New York is raising the heat on Trump

New York prosecutors haven’t revealed what they know about Donald Trump’s finances. But new developments suggest it’s ominous for the former president. The New York state attorney general, Letitia James, announced on May 18 that a civil investigation into Trump’s business, the Trump Organization, is now a criminal investigation. James didn’t explain the change, but her office has been gathering detailed information on Trump’s business activity for more than two years. Trump has… Source link

Kevin Durant suffers thigh injury vs. Heat, ruled out

Kevin Durant suffers thigh injury vs. Heat, ruled out

Kevin Durant has been ruled out of the rest of Sunday afternoon’s game against the Miami Heat after suffering a left thigh contusion, the Brooklyn Nets announced.  Durant slowly left the bench area for the locker room during the first quarter. His left thigh appeared to slam into Miami’s Trevor Ariza on a drive to the basket.  He was examined by a trainer on the sideline before heading to the locker room.  After Miami’s 109-107 win, Nets head coach Steve Nash was unsure of Durant’s status… Source link

Mining Bitcoin for Heat, Strawberries and Chickens

There are strawberries growing in the village of Neuville, Quebec, in the middle of a Canadian winter. The small farm Le Caveau à Légumes is funneling the excess heat from crypto miners to battle the frost, and grow a rarity for the region. “Now is really cold, so we need the heat,” Melissa Girard, an agronomist at the small producer, told CoinDesk in a phone interview. “We couldn’t afford to produce strawberries if we had to pay for electricity.” The farm is among a growing number… Source link

New-look Nets barely snag first win vs. Heat

New-look Nets barely snag first win vs. Heat

The new-look Nets barely won their first game on Saturday over an injury-riddled Heat team, 128-124. Miami, without Jimmy Butler, Tyler Herro, or Meyers Leonard, was within three points with 15 seconds to play. Steve Nash and his coaching staff have a lot to work on with the Kyrie Irving–Kevin Durant–James Harden Nets, and while that isn’t a shock so soon after the blockbuster trade for Harden, it’s been disappointing to see Brooklyn stumble through its last three games. The team fell to the… Source link

Cowboys rookie Lamb takes heat for kick return TD: ‘It was too open’

Cowboys rookie Lamb takes heat for kick return TD: ‘It was too open’

The Cowboys had not returned a kickoff for a touchdown since 2008. It’s odd, then, to think that rookie CeeDee Lamb would get barked at by his coaching staff and teammates for finally taking one to the house in the waning moments of Sunday’s meeting with the visiting 49ers. But that’s exactly what happened. After one of the most electrifying plays of Dallas’s disappointing 2020 season, the promising young rookie found himself apologizing. “Honestly, it all happened so fast. It was… Source link
