The MLB All-Star break didn’t seem to fix the Boston Red Sox’s problems. Boston lost by 23 runs to the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday in one of the biggest blowouts in MLB history. That’s bad on its own, but the loss is even worse when grouped with the Red Sox’s two previous losses to the New York Yankees where Boston lost by a combined 24 runs six days before the Blue Jays game. The 82-game NBA season has been in place since 1967-68, but has come under scrutiny recently, with the flames being stoked most notably by commissioner Adam Silver. Silver is pushing for an in-season tournament to generate more interest and certainly more revenue. The tournament would lead to shortening the season. Brent Musburger is done calling games for the Las Vegas Raiders. The longtime broadcaster who’s worked as the team’s radio play-by-play voice since 2018 announced the news on Twitter Friday morning while thanking the franchise for “fond memories.” Musburger, 83, didn’t expound on his exit or what might come next. Al Michaels may be done in the “Sunday Night Football” booth, but he’s not leaving NBC just yet. Michaels has been given “emeritus status” and will “continue to broadcast and contribute across NBC Sports’ high-profile properties,” the network announced on Tuesday.
