The fan kept it this time and turned it into a small fortune just hours before Brady announced his surprise return to the NFL on Sunday. Home price growth in the U.S. paused in the final month of 2021, but the full year logged in record gains. Standard & Poor’s said Tuesday that its S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller national home price index posted an 18.8% annual gain in December, unchanged from November. The 20-City Composite posted an 18.6% annual gain, up from 18.3% a month earlier. The auction of Bill Russell memorabilia was a runaway success.  The 87-year-old civil rights icon and 11-time NBA champion auctioned over 400 items from his long and storied career at the TD Garden on Friday. When the auction closed and the dust settled, the total came to over $5 million. A wild final week of the season gave us more bowl-eligible teams than bowl spots. With teams like North Texas and LSU pulling upsets, 83 teams finished the season at 6-6 or better.
