Northwestern’s CFP chances evaporate after loss

Northwestern’s time as a College Football Playoff contender was short-lived. The Wildcats entered Saturday’s game vs. Michigan State with a 5-0 record and ranked No. 8 in the CFP rankings after a triumphant win over Wisconsin last weekend. But Northwestern is set to plummet from the top 10 after being upset by the Spartans 29-20 in East Lansing. Pac-12’s CFP chances on ropes after Oregon loss

The highest-ranked team in the Pac-12 is no longer unbeaten. Entering the weekend, Oregon was 3-0, ranked No. 15 in the College Football Playoff rankings and one of the few Pac-12 teams to play all of its games. Now, Oregon is 3-1 and might fall out of the CFP rankings altogether after losing to rival Oregon State on Friday night in Corvallis.
