Russian internet search engine Yandex said customers can now block spam calls using its Yandex application. The application includes a function that automatically defines telephone numbers; it can recognise advertising calls from financial service providers, as well as other unwanted calls, including fraud calls or calls from debt collectors, for example. Google’s John Mueller advises site owners to be careful not to block Googlebot if they choose to block traffic from an entire country. Mueller addressed this topic twice over the past week. Google is removing some Australian news sites from search results in a move which follows a government order to pay publishers for their content.
