Another Final Four favorite is out of the NCAA women’s tournament field before the second weekend. No. 10 South Dakota knocked out No. 2 Baylor, 61-47, on the Bears’ home court to advance to the Wichita region semifinal. To the casual observer, there wasn’t a whole lot of drama with Baylor’s 78-59 victory over Houston in the Final Four on Saturday evening. Thanks to a huge performance from star freshman Cade Cunningham, Oklahoma State has reached the Big 12 championship game. The Cowboys, behind a 25-point night from Cunningham, knocked off top-seeded Baylor 83-74 on Friday night at the Sprint Center in Kansas City. Former Baylor coach Art Briles resigned from his post as the head coach of Mount Vernon High School on Monday, the school announced. Briles, the disgraced former Bears coach who was in charge during a massive sexual assault scandal at the university, had been with the Texas high school for two seasons. Prior to that, he had a short coaching stint in Italy. Briles finished with a 20-6 overall record at Mount Vernon. They fell in the Texas 3A Div.
