Any COVID-19 variant ‘is severe’ for unvaccinated populations, doctor explains

The Omicron variant has pushed the U.S. to exceed 65 million total cases of coronavirus. Though symptoms of the strain have been described as “mild” in comparison to previous variants, that mainly applies to those who are fully vaccinated and boosted. For those who are still unvaccinated or immunocompromised, it’s a different story at a population level. “We have to remember: We’re a country that has over 35% of individuals who are not vaccinated,” Dr. Stella Safo, an NYC-based HIV… Source link

Warren Buffett says these are the very best businesses to own — with so much uncertainty in the market, stick to this trio of top stocks Never forget the basics. While we’re constantly bombarded with confusing investment mumbo jumbo, we should never forget that companies largely exist for one main reason: to take capital from investors and earn a return on it. That’s why it makes sense for investors to look for businesses, with durable competitive advantages, that are able to consistently… Source link

Omicron threat seen ‘as short term’ by business leaders: Commerce Secretary

Omicron, the latest variant of COVID-19, has hit certain sectors of the economy hard, causing labor shortages and child care issues and making some Americans wary again of dining out. But in a new interview with Yahoo Finance this week, Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo offered hopeful news from business leaders she’s spoken with recently amid all of this uncertainty. “They see [the problem] as short term,” said Raimondo, who sat down in Washington, DC for an upcoming episode of Influencers… Source link

Bills, Josh Allen thrash Patriots for wild-card win

The list of times Bill Belichick has been embarrassed in the playoffs is short.  The instance everyone will point to is a 2009 wild-card game against the Baltimore Ravens, when the New England Patriots trailed 24-0 in the first quarter. They lost that game 33-14. In 2012 they lost the AFC championship game to the Ravens by 15 points. Those were the only times Belichick’s Patriots teams had lost by more than 10 in the playoffs.  A lot about Saturday night’s 47-17 Buffalo Bills win was… Source link

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Sunday Picks

We had a massive Saturday card, and it’s left us with crumbs for today. We actually have just four games, with three making up the main card. Bengals celebrate 1st playoff win since before texts

Text messages were flying all over Cincinnati and beyond on Saturday night in celebration of the Bengals‘ playoff win over the Las Vegas Raiders. Given that pretty much everyone texts now, that was to be expected. But it took on more significance after one fact circulated on social media: The last time the Bengals won at this time of year was Jan. 6, 1991. The first text message sent happened on Dec. 3, 1992. That’s how long ago it was. The thing that for so many of us has become ubiquitous, our… Source link

Bengals, under bettors happy over Raiders FG

The Las Vegas Raiders‘ decision to kick a late field goal was debatable. Cincinnati Bengals bettors won’t debate it.  With 3:37 left, the Raiders trailed 26-16 in Saturday’s AFC wild-card game. They had fourth-and-3 from the Bengals’ 10. The Raiders needed a touchdown and a field goal at that point, but it’s a lot harder to go the length of the field and score a touchdown. They could have gone for the touchdown there, at the risk of the game being practically over if they didn’t get it on… Source link
