Davis acknowledged in a statement to POLITICO that Google’s outside attorneys were among the “many law firms, lobby shops, corporations and other entities” he spoke to after leaving the Senate Judiciary Committee, where he had been chief counsel for nominations to Chair Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) until 2019.
