Google Meet emoji reactions are finally here

Google Meet emoji reactions are finally here

The emoji don’t stay static like they do on Zoom, though. A line of reactions used during the call will instead float up the left side of the screen and will burst if multiple people use the same ones. Small emoji badges will also appear in the upper-left corner of your video tile, so you’ll get to see who reacted with what. While I haven’t gotten the chance to try it out myself yet, it seems like a fun way to liven up typically routine meetings. Reactions in Google Meet mobileImage:… Source link

How to install Google One VPN on MacOS

How to install Google One VPN on MacOS

Getty Images I’m a big advocate of using VPNs, especially when on the go and connected to networks you aren’t confident you can trust. When you use a VPN, all the data that leaves your machine is encrypted and anonymized.  Adding a VPN is especially important when you’re transmitting sensitive data and don’t want a third party to intercept that information and use it against you. I’ve been using the Google One VPN on Android since its release and have been exceptionally pleased with the… Source link

Google parent files redacted motion to dismiss U.S. federal antitrust lawsuit

WASHINGTON, Jan 11 (Reuters) – Google parent Alphabet (GOOGL.O) filed on Wednesday a redacted version of its motion to dismiss a U.S. government lawsuit against it, which argued that the company broke antitrust law to maintain its monopoly in search and search advertising. The filings on Wednesday show that the company is mounting a vigorous defense against the antitrust cases, which, if successful, could force the tech giant to spin off assets. In December, Google asked Judge Amit Mehta of… Source link

Google decouples some Android accessibility features from OS updates

Google decouples some Android accessibility features from OS updates

has broken out some accessibility features into a separate app. Switch Access has graduated from the Android Accessibility Suite and it’s now available through the Play Store. Offering Switch Access features via a separate app could allow Google to roll out more frequent updates instead of having to do so at the OS level.  The move could also let Google offer Switch Access features on older devices too. The app is available on 2017’s Android 8 (aka Android Oreo) and later.  Switch Access… Source link

Google Kickstarts 2023 With 17 Chrome Security Vulnerability Updates

I was pleased to get through the end of the 2022 seasonal holidays without a zero-day exploit landing for Google Chrome if I’m being honest. Attackers do like to strike when security teams and consumers alike are kicking back, after all. In fact, the last security update for users of the Google Chrome desktop browser, Windows, Mac, and Linux versions, was back on December 13, 2022. That is the same day that Microsoft, Adobe, and others release their scheduled monthly security updates: Patch… Source link

Product Reviews Linking To Multiple Sellers May Get Boost

Product Reviews Linking To Multiple Sellers May Get Boost

Google Developer Advocate Alan Kent says product reviews linking to multiple sellers may get a ranking boost over reviews linking to one. Kent confirmed this on Twitter in response to a question about Google’s documentation on how to write high-quality product reviews. There’s a line in the document that reads: “Consider including links to multiple sellers to give the reader the option to purchase from their merchant of choice.” Does that mean a website is disadvantaged if it only… Source link
