Kyrie Irving plans to keep ‘managing’ Nets with Kevin Durant

Kyrie Irving plans to keep ‘managing’ Nets with Kevin Durant

If the LeBron James-era Miami Heat marked the peak of what player empowerment can accomplish in the NBA, look no further than the 2022 postseason for its nadir. Absent: LeBron and the Los Angeles Lakers of his vision historically flamed out of the playoffs before they began. Absent as of Monday: A Brooklyn Nets squad built by, of and for Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, swept out of the first round in alarming fashion by the Boston Celtics. The two teams that entered 2021-22 as betting favorites… Source link

Kevin Durant on friendship with Kyrie; LeBron-like influence

NEW YORK — Kevin Durant was tired, not broken. Discouraged, but still confident about his personal future with the Brooklyn Nets and his friendship with Kyrie Irving. The Nets were swept by the more cohesive and determined Boston Celtics, a sweep that registered as the first in Durant’s 14 NBA seasons. The same is the case for Irving, who missed a huge chunk of the season due to being unvaccinated against COVID-19. Irving told the media he has no plans on leaving Brooklyn, as he can opt out… Source link

Nets’ Nic Claxton breaks futile Shaq free-throw record

Nets’ Nic Claxton breaks futile Shaq free-throw record

Nic Claxton’s free throw misses certainly can’t be blamed for Brooklyn’s stunning 4-0 series sweep at the hands of the Boston Celtics. But they didn’t help. The Nets forward surpassed Shaquille O’Neal in the NBA record books during Monday’s Game 4 loss. And not in a good way. Claxton missed his first 10 free throws in the 116-12 loss, breaking the record for most free throws without a make to start a playoff game. Per Turner Sports — O’Neal’s employer — Shaq previously held the dubious… Source link

(Photo via Twitter/@greg_price11) During their Monday off, the Tampa Bay Lightning were honoured at the White House by U.S. President Joe Biden, a custom that has been extended annually to champions across various major North American professional sports leagues. Google’s not being very subtle with its wearables push

Google’s not being very subtle with its wearables push

After a massive Pixel Watch leak this past weekend, you’d think that maybe Google would relax on the wearables front. Nope. With Google I/O just weeks away, a video teasing Google Assistant on the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 has popped up on YouTube, and Google-owned Fitbit has officially started rolling out passive atrial fibrillation alerts on its suite of devices. We’ve known that Google Assistant was coming to the Galaxy Watch 4 (and therefore Wear OS 3) for months. The only thing we… Source link

Contracts on all three major indexes were little changed after the Dow Jones Industrial Average recovered an intraday loss of nearly 500 points and closed in the green, snapping a five-day losing streak. The S&P 500 also bounced back from declines to close the trading session above… Source link

Toyota scrutinized after restarting donations to ‘sedition caucus’

Every month, new companies get dinged for sending money to the 147 members of Congress who tried to overturn the 2020 election, but none gets quite as much heat for its donations as Toyota (TM). The automaker has had a particularly tumultuous relationship with political donations since the U.S. Capitol attack on Jan. 6, and it’s now under renewed political pressure after Judd Legum reported in his newsletter Monday that Toyota had resumed donations to certain 2020 election objectors. The… Source link
