Why Biden can’t fix the semiconductor shortage

President Biden has plans to address many long-standing issues, such as climate change, wealth inequality, unaffordable health care, and housing shortages. But he’s been unable to address a problem that is holding back the U.S. economy in real-time, right now: the global shortage of semiconductors, key processors in thousands of consumer and industrial products. Apple is spending ‘chump change’ on original content, and that is big win for Netflix stock: analyst

Apple (AAPL) may be teasing a bigger streaming content push at a big event scheduled for Sept. 14, but Wall Street thinks Netflix (NFLX) will remain the dominant force in the streaming category for years to come. “I have not been impressed by what Apple has done. They have created a couple quality shows and a lot of less than interesting shows. They are just not getting that broad appeal yet,” said Bank of America analyst Nat Schindler on Yahoo Finance Live. “They obviously have a lot of… Source link

GameStop says it isn’t just selling video games — it’s also ‘evolving’ into a tech company

GameStop (GME) apparently no longer sees itself as a retailer under the dual leadership of new chairman Ryan Cohen and CEO Matt Furlong, but rather as a tech company perhaps some day worthy of being in the same discussion as an Apple (AAPL), Microsoft (MSFT), and Google (GOOG, GOOGL).  “GameStop has two long-term goals: delighting customers and delivering value for stockholders. We are evolving from a video game retailer to a technology company that connects customers with games,… Source link

Smart Glasses Made Google Look Dumb. Now Facebook Is Giving Them a Try.

SAN FRANCISCO — Last Saturday, after a three-mile hike through the Presidio, I stood in a throng of tourists looking at the Golden Gate Bridge. As the crowd snapped photos of the landmark, I decided to join in. But instead of reaching into my pocket for my iPhone, I tapped the side of my Ray-Ban sunglasses until I heard the click of a shutter. Later, I downloaded the photos that my sunglasses had just taken to my phone. The process was instant, simple, unobtrusive — and it was powered by… Source link
