Reuters Soccer-European Super League plan not a coup but a ‘cry of alarm’, Agnelli says The plan to create a breakaway Super League was not a coup but a way to save the soccer industry, which has been dramatically hit by the coronavirus pandemic, European Super League founder and Juventus chairman Andrea Agnelli said on Friday. “The Super League is not a coup, but a desperate cry of alarm for a system that, knowingly or not, is heading towards insolvency,” Agnelli said at a news conference… Source link

LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis walked out of Staples Center Thursday night without any regrets about attempting to play in Game 6 with a left grain strain. “I couldn’t move to my right,” Davis told Yahoo Sports after the Phoenix Suns eliminated them in six games. “That’s why I reacted that way [in the first quarter] when [Devin] Booker drove left and I had to slide to my right. That s*** hurt. There was nothing I could do, but I just wanted to be out there for… Source link

U.S. Labor Secretary Marty Walsh is giving a thumbs up to the May jobs report, but acknowledges it will take some time for the labor market to fully recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.  “There is no question there is still a ways to go in still dealing with the pandemic from all of the job loss at the beginning of the pandemic,” Walsh said on Yahoo Finance Live.  The Labor Department reported Friday that non-farm payrolls increased by 559,000, falling shy of Wall Street’s estimates for a… Source link

$70K bet placed on Clippers to cover vs. Mavs

At least one bettor is extremely confident in the Los Angeles Clippers‘ chances of forcing a Game 7 in their first-round series with the Dallas Mavericks. A bettor at BetMGM has placed a $69,300 wager on the Clippers -2.5 vs. the host Mavericks on Friday night. If the Clippers win by three or more points, that bettor will net $63,000. If the Clippers win by one or two or the Mavericks win, well, the book will be happy to keep that bettor’s money. The Mavericks lead the series 3-2 and can… Source link

Fantasy Baseball Takeaways: Last call on Tony Gonsolin – Yahoo Sports

You can never have too many friends. You can never have too much pizza. You can never have too many guitars. You can never have enough pitching, either. That goes for real-life baseball and the fake-stat-grab baseball we love so much. So count me in on Dodgers right-hander Tony Gonsolin, with a high level of excitement. He’s coming back from a shoulder injury and has been fine in three short rehab outings (10.1 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, 3 BB, 9 K). The real selling point is what he’s done in 86.2… Source link

(Bloomberg) — For Biogen Inc., the Food and Drug Administration’s expected decision Monday on its Alzheimer’s drug is what a JPMorgan Chase & Co. analyst called “the mother of all binary events” — one that could send its shares veering sharply in either direction. If regulators give the company approval to market the drug, called aducanumab, the stock could surge to as much to $450, according to Wall Street analysts. Or it could tumble to $200 if the treatment is shot down,… Source link

The U.S. economy is ‘entering boomtown’: economist

As economic activity bounces back and the labor market continues to improve, RSM Chief Economist Joe Brusuelas told Yahoo Finance Live the U.S. economy is “entering boomtown.” “I think we’re about to pivot from recovery to expansion in the economy,” Brusuelas said. “It’s appropriate that members of the Federal Reserve begin to signal to markets that things are not going to be the same forever.
