The Canadian Press EXPLAINER: What’s ahead as Trump impeachment trial begins WASHINGTON — Former President Donald Trump’s historic second impeachment trial begins Tuesday, forcing the Senate to decide whether to convict him of incitement of insurrection after a violent mob of his supporters laid siege to the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6. While Trump’s acquittal is expected, Democrats hope to gain at least some Senate Republican votes by linking Trump’s actions to a vivid description of the… Source link

Patents Are Not Always Used in Search

Google’s John Mueller advises site owners to be mindful that not everything the company patents is used in search results. Mueller’s exact quote on this subject is as follows (more context available in the next section): “But just because it’s patented from Google, and maybe even from someone who works on search, doesn’t mean that we actually use it in search.“ This is stated by Mueller during the Google Search Central SEO hangout recorded on February 5. An SEO named Neeraj Pandey… Source link

Google Photos adds pinch-to-zoom for videos

For the last year or so, Google is making slow progress to improve the video-watching experience in its Photos app and the latest update brings a couple of cool features. Best, worst commercials from the Big Game

The Super Bowl’s in the books, and that means it’s time to close the door on this year’s crop of ads, too. We graded every single one of them as they aired last night, but here’s the greatest (and un-greatest) hits version: the best and worst of what we saw last night. The Best Tide Your verdict on how you liked these Super Bowl ads depended largely on how you like your nostalgia served: remixed or just reheated. The Jason Alexander hoodie bit was a clever little montage, and setting… Source link

Terraria for Google Stadia Canceled, and It’s Google’s Fault

(Photo: Re-Logic) The incredibly popular action-adventure sandbox game Terraria has seen a release on just about every platform available since it launched in 2011. Google Stadia was going to be added to that list, but not anymore thanks to the action (and subsequent inaction) of Google. As IGN reports, Terraria is developed by Re-Logic, which was founded by Andrew Spinks. On Jan. 27, Spinks tweeted that he’d been suspended from YouTube and Gmail without explanation. Today, Spinks tweeted… Source link

Google Works to Bring Cookieless Marketing and Privacy Future Into Focus

PHOTO: Chris Wetherell Cliffhangers work well for keeping TV show fans mesmerized. For digital marketers, cliffhangers bring more anxiety than anticipation. Last year Google introduced a doozy of a cliffhanger when it announced Sandbox, a two-year research initiative to eliminate third-party cookies from its Chrome browser. Last week Google revealed a browser extension containing an API called Federated Learning of Cohorts or “FLoC” — a nickname pronounced as “flock.” FLoC… Source link
