Biden defeats Trump to become 46th president

Joe Biden has won the 2020 presidential election, the Associated Press projected Saturday, sending President Trump to a bitter defeat four years after he shocked the world by winning the White House with a victory over Hillary Clinton. Biden crossed the 270-vote threshold in the Electoral College on Saturday after the AP called Pennsylvania for him. He was also able to capture Wisconsin, Michigan and Arizona, states that Trump carried in 2016.  Other states remain too close to call, and the… Source link

Combative U.S. FDA panel votes against Biogen Alzheimer's drug – Yahoo Finance

Bloomberg The Second Breakup of AT&T (Bloomberg) — AT&T Inc. has been called many things over its 135-year history: Ma Bell, monopoly, media conglomerate. The company, which traces its roots to the patent rights of telephone inventor Alexander Graham Bell, was the dominant phone company for much of the 20th century. So dominant, in fact, that it was broken up in 1982 as part of an agreement with antitrust authorities. But those businesses eventually began to merge, culminating with SBC… Source link

Alexa or Google Nest? Both have helpful personalities

A child asked me which was better: Alexa, the voice inside the Amazon Echo Dot, or Google Assistant, the voice inside the Google Home speaker, renamed Google Nest. Until recently, I would have said Google. That was before I read CNET’s “9 things your Amazon Echo can do that Google Home can’t.” Of course, right after that, I read “9 Things Google Home Can Do that Alexa Can’t.” Let’s start with some Alexa differences. Alexa can play Apple Music as one of many choices; Google makes Apple music… Source link

Trump campaign, falling behind in the count, is failing in the courts

In the days following the election, President Trump’s baseless allegations of rampant fraud in the vote-counting process have been incorporated into a hasty, slapdash legal strategy that so far has yielded limited results. As Trump loses his grip on the presidency, his campaign is using state and federal courts to attempt to “stop the count,” as Trump himself has said, and question the validity of the ballots that have already been counted. But vote counting has continued despite the… Source link

New Google app could help providers block phone functions if you miss installment payments

R184 That is probably illegal for Google to do that as a third party, and maybe illegal for whoever to do that. It then could be classed as collusion and open up continuous successful litigation. The courts have tolerated attempts to try to force them into common law acceptance of practices through standards of practice by internet companies. But as much as practices violate common and civil and criminal laws, or people some don’t want those standards as in appropriate to… Source link
