The Chicago White Sox announced Monday they had canceled their planned postgame 4th of July fireworks in light of the mass shooting in the Chicago suburb of Highland Park. The team still played its game against the Minnesota Twins as scheduled at 7:10 p.m. CT, but held a moment of silence before first pitch. The Chicago White Sox are willing to pay pitcher Dallas Keuchel to sit at home and do nothing. The team designated Keuchel and his $18 million salary for assignment Saturday. Keuchel started eight games for the White Sox in 2022. He has a 7.88 ERA in those starts. Nathan Eovaldi‘s bad day on Tuesday was one fan’s very good fortune. The Boston Red Sox entered the second inning at home holding a 1-0 lead over the Astros. The Guardians first baseman had a massive night on Monday against the Chicago White Sox as Cleveland rallied from an 8-2 eighth-inning deficit for a 12-9 win in extra innings.
