The NBA draft is Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. ET, and the first round is starting to take shape. Jabari Smith is projected to go No. 1 to the Orlando Magic (over Chet Holmgren and Paolo Banchero), and there are rumblings multiple teams are interested in trading up to No. 4 in pursuit of Purdue guard Jaden Ivey. Final bowl projections of 2021

A wild final week of the season gave us more bowl-eligible teams than bowl spots. With teams like North Texas and LSU pulling upsets, 83 teams finished the season at 6-6 or better. There are 82 bowl spots, so someone is going to get left out. Who will it be? There are a couple candidates. The first is a team from the MAC like Ball State or Miami (Ohio). The full faith and credit of the U.S. government will be in jeopardy next month…ish. The looming debt ceiling means that – without an intervention by Congress – the government won’t be able to pay its bills soon. A default could be catastrophic for the U.S. economy.
