The pizza chain officially debuted its hottest pizza to date — the new “Dragon Flame Pizza” — in honor of the upcoming “Game of Thrones” prequel “House of the Dragon.” The spicy concoction, hand-tossed in Papa Johns’ signature pizza sauce, is topped with sriracha dry spice, smoked pulled chicken, Italian sausage, fresh green peppers, melty cheese, and Fresno chilies. More than 13,000 pounds of frozen pizza were recalled over fears they might have been contaminated with “extraneous materials, specifically metal,” authorities said Sunday. The 33.5-ounce Home Run Inn pizzas — topped with sausage, pepperoni, onions and peppers — would have a “best by” date of Dec. 3, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, or FSIS. Even pizza prices are headed higher amid elevated inflation. Papa John’s said this week that the company increased prices 7% in the first quarter to help offset inflationary pressures. Domino’s Pizza (DPZ) just saw sales fall after 41 straight quarters of U.S. same-store sales increases, ending one of the most impressive runs in the fast food industry.
