Beijing Olympic participation unlikely after COVID surge

After NHL insider Chris Johnston reported on Tuesday that the league and players officially agreed to withdraw from the 2022 Beijing Olympics — confirming what ESPN’s Emily Kaplan and others reported the previous two days — the news became officially official on Wednesday. ‘Antiwork’ movement may be long-run risk to labor force participation: Goldman Sachs

About 5 million Americans have exited the labor force since the pandemic began. Goldman Sachs estimates that about 3.4 million are likely gone for good due to retirements, meaning that 1.7 million people are open to returning to work. Vaccine requirement will help people feel safe at work, boost labor force participation

Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh says the Biden administration’s new vaccine requirements will help boost the labor force participation rate. On Friday, the Labor Department said the labor force participation rate was unchanged in October, at 61.6%.
