Panthers lose heartbreaker to Browns as 58-yard FG from rookie kicker sinks Baker Mayfield’s Carolina debut

Baker Mayfield may or may not have said that he planned to “f***” the Browns up on Sunday Regardless, he made his best effort to do so with a second-half rally, but came up excruciatingly short as a 58-yard field goal by Browns rookie kicker Cade York sank the Carolina Panthers in a 26-24 Cleveland win. Facing a Cleveland team absent starting quarterback Deshaun Watson for the season’s first 11 games, Carolina got off to a rough start against Mayfield’s former Browns. But Mayfield rallied the… Source link

Ravens make Justin Tucker highest-paid kicker with million extension

Justin Tucker is now (rightfully) the NFL’s highest-paid kicker. The Baltimore Ravens gave Tucker a four-year, $24 million extension, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The team officially announced the deal as well without disclosing the contract terms. Tucker’s new contract also comes with $17.5 million in guaranteed money, which puts him, at worst, second in the NFL in career earnings for a kicker at $51.07 million — behind Sebastian Janikowski’s $53.28 million career earnings, per Source link

Jaguars cut rookie kicker after 1 of his 3 field goal misses hit ex-Cowboys coach

Four days into his first training camp, Mevis was cut by the Jacksonville Jaguars after missing three field goals during the team’s Thursday warm-ups, according to ESPN’s Michael DiRocco. One of those field goals reportedly missed its mark so badly that it hit former Dallas Cowboys head coach Dave Campo in the shoulder, and the other two weren’t even close to the goalposts. Browns take kicker Cade York in 4th round

It’s always a bit tricky, figuring out when to draft a punter or kicker. Those positions are obviously valuable. Ask a team that has a shaky kicker or a subpar punter how much angst that causes. The Browns took LSU kicker Cade York in the fourth round, with the 124th overall pick. ESPN said that’s the highest a kicker has gone in the draft since …… Source link

Vikings kicker has nightmare day, misses four kics

Minnesota Vikings kicker Dan Bailey had a bad day. Well, that’s actually underselling it. Bailey had a historically bad day, the kind of day kickers see in their worst nightmares and hope will never, ever come true. The Vikings lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, and Bailey couldn’t make a kick. Not one in the entire game. Dan Bailey couldn’t make FGs and extra points It started in the first quarter when he missed an extra point. Then in the second quarter he missed a 36-yard field… Source link
