Niners safety Jaquiski Tartt owns up to dropped INT

Jaquiski Tartt would like to have that one back, but at least he owned up to it. The San Francisco 49ers safety dropped what may have been the easiest interception of his NFL career on Sunday during the NFC championship game. Plenty went wrong for the Niners in a fourth quarter that started with San Francisco up 17-7 and ended with them losing 20-17, but Tartt’s drop stood out as the worst missed opportunity. The play came with the Niners up 17-14 and a little under 10 minutes left, when Rams… Source link

Bengals get game-winning FG after INT to beat Titans

The Cincinnati Bengals started playing football in 1968. They had never won a road playoff game before Saturday night.  It seems impossible to go more than 50 years without one road playoff win. But the Bengals stood at 0-7 in those matchups.  Things are changing.  The Bengals, whose last playoff win before this season came in January of 1991, won their second playoff game in a week and are moving on to the AFC championship game with a 19-16 win over the Tennessee Titans, the No. 1 seed in… Source link

Titans INT upheld on a very, very close call

The spirit of instant replay reviews is plays should only be overturned if there is conclusive evidence the call on the field was wrong. NFL officials don’t often follow that.  On Saturday, it certainly wasn’t conclusive that the ground helped Titans defensive back Amani Hooker grab an interception. It was so close, you could watch the replay dozens of times and still not know. Two people could watch the replay and have differing opinions.  It was really close. But ultimately, Hooker’s play… Source link

Kyler Murray’s hideous INT put Cardinals in big hole

The Arizona Cardinals‘ night was already going really bad, and then it reached ridiculous levels on one of the worst plays you’ll see a quarterback make in the playoffs.  The Los Angeles Rams led 14-0 and had the Cardinals backed up, facing a third-and-7. Kyler Murray went back to pass and held the ball an impossibly long time looking for a receiver. Eventually linebacker Troy Reeder got to Murray and started to wrap him up for what would have been a sack and safety. It got worse.  Murray… Source link

LSU DB Jay Ward scores wild deflected INT

LSU’s Jay Ward got the craziest interception of the season against Florida on Saturday night. Ward somehow came up with an interception while kneeling along the sideline after Kyle Trask’s pass bounced off a hand and a helmet before ricocheting back towards Ward while he was laying down on the field at the time of the deflections. You have to see this to believe it. Toney reached back to try to catch the ball. His right hand deflected the ball toward LSU’s Dwight McGlothern. The ball then… Source link
