Inbox beware: Federal watchdog approves Google program to let campaigns skip spam filters

Inbox beware: Federal watchdog approves Google program to let campaigns skip spam filters

The program, as described in a proposal from attorneys from Google, would allow emails from federal campaigns and committees in the program “that meet objective security criteria” and do not otherwise break Gmail’s terms of service to “not be affected by forms of spam detection to which they would otherwise be subject” and automatically land in a user’s inbox. These political senders’ emails would continue to be directly routed to users’ inboxes, unless or until a user opts… Source link

Shortwave wants to bring back Google Inbox – TechCrunch

Shortwave wants to bring back Google Inbox – TechCrunch

Google’s Inbox experiment was a glorious thing while it lasted. Launched as an invitation-only service in 2014, it was the company’s next-gen email client. Because it was so good, it’s no surprise Google shut it down in 2019. Thankfully, though, a group of ex-Google/Firebase employees is now resurrecting the Inbox experience — with a bit of the Slack user experience mixed in, too. The team behind Shortwave (CEO Andrew Lee, CPO Jacob Wenger and CTO Jonny Dimond) all previously… Source link

This smart new service brings Google Docs, Trello, and Notion together — in your inbox

It’s pretty rare that I stumble onto a new service and think, “Whoa! This is exactly what I’ve been missing. And I didn’t even know I was missing it.” Well, my fellow efficiency-obsessed earthlings, I’m ecstatic to report that that magnificent moment just happened — and the service in question is a little somethin’ called Hitsnag. Hitsnag? Hitsnag. (I’m assuming that’s meant to be read as “hit-SNAG” and not “hits-NAG,” but I’ll leave that up to your own… Source link

The creator of Inbox is ready to save Google from itself

The creator of Inbox is ready to save Google from itself

If you’ve followed my ramblings for long, you know how I feel about Inbox — Google’s short-lived experiment with reinventing the way we experience email. Inbox, built atop Gmail’s foundation, was a wildly different approach to managing messages. At its launch in 2014, the service was described as being “years in the making” — a “completely different type of inbox, designed to focus on what really matters.” Google told us Inbox was “designed for the problems… Source link
