Google’s latest multiplayer Doodle lets you play a round of pétanque with your friends

Google’s latest multiplayer Doodle lets you play a round of pétanque with your friends

Google has a delightful new multiplayer Doodle that lets you play a game of pétanque online. If you haven’t heard of pétanque — I hadn’t before writing this article — it’s a game that’s kind of like bocce ball. The goal of pétanque is to throw your ball (the boule) as close as you can to a little ball (the cochonnet) on the playing field in front of you. On your computer, you’ll “throw” the ball by clicking on the boule and dragging back with your mouse to slingshot… Source link

Kansas teen Waverly Altis competing in Doodle for Google competition

Peace, for Waverly Altis, is in pedaling to the park. Here is home for Altis. “It’s very relaxing,” said Altis, of De Soto. “Like you can almost just tune everything out.” So when a scholarship competition sponsored by Google asked her to draw her ideal way of taking care of… Source link

Charlie Hill: Native American comedian honored with Google Doodle

When Hill was a young comic in the 1970s, he refused to deign to racist stereotypes of Native Americans. Rather, his material addressed bigotry toward Native Americans throughout history, taking aim at White viewers, the forced displacement of indigenous people and even the harmful history of Christopher Columbus and Plymouth Rock Pilgrims. In 1977, 26-year-old Hill appeared on “The Richard Pryor Show,” the first time a Native American stand-up performed on a program that aired across the… Source link

Google Doodle celebrates Juneteenth with art by father-son duo

Google often celebrates holidays and milestones with unique, themed drawings of their logo – so-called “Google Doodles.” Juneteenth happened to fall on Father’s Day this year, and the Google Doodle to celebrate it was created, fittingly, by a father-son duo.  Jerome and Jeromyah Jones, two artists based in Virginia, said they were inspired in part by the “commonalities we see during this year that the two holidays coincide.” The painting includes a man with a child on his… Source link
