Where some of Warren Buffett’s magic, and money, goes

Warren Buffett knows philanthropy. He’s pledged to give away more than 99% of his wealth (during his lifetime or after his death) through the Giving Pledge, a program he created with his buddy Bill Gates to encourage the world’s billionaires to donate at least 50% of their wealth to charity. Buffett also supports a couple of charities with which he has deeply personal connections, and often does so by unconventional means. In particular: auctions. What happened at Warren Buffett’s annual meeting

What happened at Warren Buffett’s annual meeting

OMAHA, Neb. — A remake of “Empire State of Mind” with lyrics about Berkshire Hathaway, greeted shareholders this morning. (I’m not sure if it was actually sung by Jay Z and Alicia Keys, but it sure sounded like it. We’ll try to get the lyrics for you at some point.) Picking up from what I wrote in today’s Morning Brief, the 2022 Berkshire Hathaway (BRK-A, BRK-B)… Source link

The “Buffett Indicator” as it’s called by legions of devotees — which takes the Wilshire 5000 Index (viewed as the total stock market) and divides it by the annual U.S. GDP — is still hovering around a record high even as… Source link

Warren Buffett’s favorite stock market indicator isn’t alone in hinting stocks are long overdue for a breather

The stock market is entering the danger zone, according to one often overlooked measure of equities valuation.  At its current level of 38 times, the Shiller P/E Ratio is nearing the peak (44 times) seen at the height just before the dot-com bust in 2000, write strategists at SunDial Capital Research. Created by noted Yale professor Robert Shiller, the ratio is seen as better than the traditional P/E ratio as it adjusts for inflation. Historically, a Shiller PE ratio sustained over 25 times… Source link
