Federal officials order grounding of Boeing 737 Max 9 jetliners after a plane suffers a blowout

Federal officials on Saturday ordered the immediate grounding of Boeing 737 Max 9 jetliners until they are inspected after an Alaska Airlines plane suffered a blowout that left a gaping hole in the side of the fuselage. The required inspections take around four to eight hours per aircraft and affect about 171 airplanes worldwide. As of Saturday morning, inspections on more than a quarter of the fleet were complete “with no concerning findings,” the company said. “Aircraft will return to… Source link

Jets offense comes alive in blowout of Bears as Zach Wilson watches from the bench – Yahoo Sports

The New York Jets offense is back. And Zach Wilson looks out of a job. With Mike White at quarterback, the Jets torched the Chicago Bears in a 31-10 win on Sunday. A week after posting three points and 103 yards with Wilson directing the offense, the Jets rolled up three passing touchdowns and 466 yards of offense in Sunday’s win. The win puts the Jets at 7-4 and in the thick of the AFC playoff race. At this point, there’s little reason for the Jets to consider handing the reins back to… Source link

Stocks stage blowout rally after milder CPI print

U.S. stocks posted outsized gains Thursday, logging their biggest one-day climb in two years, as Wall Street cheered lighter-than-expected inflation data and monitored midterm election tallies. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for October reflected a 7.7% increase over last year and 0.4% increase over the prior month, better than Wall Street expected. Economists surveyed by Bloomberg called for a 7.9% annual rise and 0.5% monthly gain. Moderations in the data again fueled bets that the Federal… Source link

Georgia shows it’s still at the top of the college football world with blowout of Oregon

Georgia picked up where it left off at the end of the 2021 college football season on Saturday. Yeah, the Bulldogs had 15 players taken in the NFL draft and five in the first round after beating Alabama for the national title in January. But it was clear in Georgia’s 49-3 win over Oregon that there are plenty of capable replacements on the roster and that the offense could be even better in 2022. Jalen Carter commanded double teams on the defensive line and looks poised to make headlines… Source link

Bond yields ripped higher after new employment data showed the U.S. economy adding a breakneck 528,000 jobs in the month of July. Emily Roland, co-chief investment strategist at John Hancock Investment Management, told Yahoo Finance the strong July jobs report shows that the economy is “not there yet” when it comes to recession. Michael Pearce, senior U.S. economist at Capital Economics, was even firmer in an email following Friday’s data: “The unexpected acceleration in non-farm payroll… Source link

Lessons for Biden from the Democrats’ blowout in California

Lessons for Biden from the Democrats’ blowout in California

Liberal Democrats known as progressives have never commanded a political majority. Not even close, really. That’s why progressive candidates such as Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren bombed in the 2020 Democratic presidential primaries, while the more centrist (at the time) Joe Biden won the Democratic nomination, then the presidency. The high point for progressives may have been the Green New Deal, which the newly elected Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York spearheaded in 2019… Source link

NBA Twitter shows disgust towards Lakers after Phoenix blowout

The Los Angeles Lakers got beat up in every facet of the game by the Phoenix Suns on Sunday in a 140-111 thrashing, and it was a total embarrassment for LeBron James and company. After L.A. took a 6-2 lead, the Suns scored 14 unanswered points, and they became a supernova from there, scoring a ridiculous 48 points in the first quarter. LeBron James was able to reach a singular and incredible milestone, but it feels empty, as winning world championships is the most important thing for his… Source link
