The Portland Trail Blazers will have to wait a little bit longer to see what they have in seventh overall pick Shaedon Sharpe. The team announced Saturday that an MRI revealed Sharpe suffered a small labral tear in his left shoulder during Portland’s Summer League game against the Detroit Pistons on July 7. Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard is close to an agreement on a two-year, $122 million extension, league sources told Yahoo Sports. Free agent guard Gary Payton II has reached an agreement with the Portland Trail Blazers on a three-year, $28 million deal that contains a player option and extra incentives, league sources told Yahoo Sports. Payton II, part of the Golden State Warriors’ 2022 NBA championship team, had a career season in the Bay in 2021-22. He averaged 7.1 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.4 steals over 17.6 minutes per game. Jusuf Nurkic made headlines when he approached a fan, Steven Geske, after a game between Portland and Indiana, and threw the fan’s phone.
