Google’s sign-in and sign-up pages have a new look

Google’s sign-in and sign-up pages have a new look

After teasing it for the past couple of weeks, Google is rolling out a new sign-in page with a slightly cleaner design. The changes are small and don’t affect functionality, but it’s something that users encounter often, and Google has been using the previous version since it changed its logo, as far as I can see. The refresh puts the sign-in (and sign-up) page more in line with the company’s Material Design ethic introduced back in 2014. To that end, it’s now aligned left (instead of… Source link

Google promises to fix Gemini’s image generation following complaints that it’s ‘woke’

Google’s Gemini chatbot, which was formerly called Bard, has the capability to whip up AI-generated illustrations based on a user’s text description. You can ask it to create pictures of happy couples, for instance, or people in period clothing walking modern streets. As the BBC notes, however, some users are criticizing Google for depicting specific white figures or historically white groups of people as racially diverse individuals. Now, Google has issued a statement, saying that it’s… Source link

Europe clearly now wants Vladimir Putin to win

Europe clearly now wants Vladimir Putin to win

If Nato’s leaders are to draw any lesson from Ukraine’s bitter two-year-long conflict, it is that the alliance remains woefully ill-prepared to deal with the existential threat Moscow poses to its future security. The military aid Ukraine received from the US and Britain in the early stages of the war undoubtedly contributed to Kyiv’s success in withstanding the initial part of Russia’s “special military operation”, as Vladimir Putin’s invasion in February 2022 was… Source link

Google Search Testing New Search Bar Design

Google Search Testing New Search Bar Design

Google Search seems to be testing a new search bar design on mobile search. The bar shows the images, videos, news, shopping, maps, etc buttons but with a light blue background color, as a curved button. I noticed it on Friday and then again on Saturday, when signed into Google.com on mobile Safari on iOS. Thomas Eccel and Adriaan Dekker also spotted it on Friday and posted about it on X and LinkedIn. Here is a screenshot of the new search bar test: Here is what Google is… Source link

Google Nest Hub and speaker stock is running low

It remains to be seen whether Google plans to bring Gemini to Smart Displays and speakers. At the same time, stock for the Nest Hub and speaker family of products is not as plentiful as it once was.  At launch in 2019, the Nest Mini was available in Chalk, Charcoal, Coral, and Sky Blue. As of today, the US Google Store is only selling the orange/salmon Nest Mini. The listing doesn’t even show you the other shades with a direct “Add to cart” button.  The Nest… Source link

Republican opponent of US aid to Ukraine brings his case to an international conference

MUNICH (AP) — A Republican opponent of new U.S. funding for Ukraine argued at an international security conference Sunday that the package stuck in Congress wouldn’t “fundamentally change the reality” on the ground and that Russia has an incentive to negotiate peace. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris and others have advocated passage of the $60 billion in aid at the Munich Security Conference, which coincided with Ukraine withdrawing troops from… Source link
