US stocks retreated on Tuesday, with investors still focused on the path of interest rates after a lackluster start to earnings season that kicked off with big bank results.
Dow Jones Industrial Average (^DJI) dropped 0.4%, while S&P 500 (^GSPC) shed 0.2%. The tech-heavy Nasdaq (^IXIC) was down 0.3% despite flipping into green territory several times during the session as semiconductors Nvidia (NVDA) and AMD (AMD) rose.
