Rams’ Matthew Stafford not playing at Super Bowl level

To this point, the NFL has shown it isn’t like the NBA, where a super team can join forces and produce championships. Much of that, of course, is simple numbers: There are only five players per team at a time on a basketball court and they play offense and defense. This year’s Los Angeles Rams are trying to show it can be done in the NFL, adding Matthew Stafford, Von Miller and Odell Beckham Jr. to a roster that already included Aaron Donald, Jalen Ramsey and MVP candidate Cooper Kupp. The Source link

It’s December 1999 Based on the NYSE Shares Touching New Lows

(Bloomberg) — Amid all the celebration of a rousing year-end in stocks, Doug Ramsey has a sobering observation about a situation below the market’s surface. Most Read from Bloomberg Last week, when the S&P 500 closed at a 52-week high, 334 companies trading on the New York Stock Exchange hit a 52-week low, more than double the amount that marked new one-year highs. Boise State out of Arizona Bowl due to COVID-19

Boise State became the latest team to back out of a bowl game due to COVID-19 cases as the Broncos are unable to play in Friday’s Arizona Bowl against Central Michigan.  Boise State’s inability to play set up an opportunity for Central Michigan to play Washington State in the Sun Bowl.  The Cougars were in need of an opponent to play in El Paso, Texas, on Friday after Miami backed out of the Sun Bowl because of its own COVID cases.  There are many financial reasons for Central Michigan to… Source link

Carolina Panthers receiver Robby Anderson knows it is rare to succeed in the NFL. So when he has an opportunity to celebrate a good play, he’s going to take it. Some reassuring words on record-setting markets into the New Year from JPMorgan strategists.  “In particular, outside of the Big 10 stocks in the U.S., equity drawdowns and multiple de-rating have been severe. Russell 3000 was down only -4% and Nasdaq Composite -7% from 12-month highs, however, the average drawdown for constituents in these indices was -28% and -38%, respectively. Some argue this price action is a harbinger of late-cycle dynamics or at least an intra-cycle 10-20% market… Source link

NFL betting: It's gonna be an ugly night at Lambeau in Week 17 – Yahoo Sports

Who didn’t play in Week 16 was more important than the players on the field. COVID ravaged rosters around the league while bettors reacted by targeting totals in several games. The roster challenges combined with the NFL coming off its lowest-scoring week of the year had bettors driving totals down in a big way. The average closing total this past weekend hit a season-low 43.1 points. Bettors’ expectation of another low-scoring week never came to fruition. Overs went 10-5 and those who bet… Source link

Costco may be about 9 months away from raising membership fees: analyst

Costco (COST) could be nearing its first increase in membership fees in some five years.  “We believe we are now 8-9 months away from a likely membership fee increase, a historical catalyst for the shares. As is well known, Costco has increased its annual membership fee every five and a half years by $5-10. On this timetable, the next hike would come in August-September 2022. The Gold Star fee would go to $65 from $60 while the Executive membership would move to $130 from $120,” said… Source link
